About the foundation
Creative Debuts is a platform and grant-making initiative established to support early-career artists, with a particular focus on those from underrepresented backgrounds. Its Black Artists Grant, launched in response to systemic inequities in the art world, provides unrestricted funding to Black artists based in the UK and US, aiming to alleviate financial barriers and foster creative freedom. The organization operates with a ethos of accessibility and direct support, prioritizing artists who may lack institutional backing or traditional avenues of patronage.

Applicants should monitor the Creative Debuts website and social media for open calls, as deadlines are periodic. The Black Artists Grant requires proof of Black heritage and artistic practice; submissions typically include a brief project description, budget, and work samples. Emphasize clarity of need and artistic merit over polished presentation. Grants are unrestricted, so articulate how funds will enable your practice. Ensure eligibility criteria are met before applying.
