About the foundation

The Eidolon Centre for Everyday Photography is an international initiative dedicated to the critical and creative exploration of quotidian photographic practices. Founded in 2018 by a collective of photographers, curators, and scholars, the Centre emerged from a desire to take seriously the images that populate daily life—from family snapshots and social media feeds to vernacular archives and street photography. Its mission is to foster dialogue, research, and production that illuminate how photography shapes and is shaped by the rhythms of the everyday. Through grants, exhibitions, publications, and public programs, Eidolon supports artists who interrogate the ordinary, often working at the intersection of documentary, conceptual, and archival approaches.

Application guidance

Applicants should approach the grant with a clear sense of how their project engages with the concept of 'everyday photography.' The Centre values proposals that demonstrate critical awareness of photographic conventions and a thoughtful methodology, rather than mere thematic alignment. Work samples should reflect a coherent artistic practice, and the project description should articulate the stakes of the inquiry. The selection committee appreciates concise, well-structured applications that avoid jargon and instead communicate the project's relevance with clarity and conviction. International applicants are encouraged, and there are no geographic restrictions. Deadlines are typically annual; check the website for specific dates and requirements.
