About the foundation

The Nevada Arts Council (NAC) is a state agency established in 1967 to enrich the cultural life of Nevada through grantmaking, services, and advocacy. Its founding ethos rests on the belief that the arts are essential to the vitality of communities, and it operates with a mandate to support artists and arts organizations across the state's diverse urban and rural landscapes. NAC administers a range of grants, including Artist Fellowships, Project Grants, and Arts Learning grants, funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and state appropriations. The Council's core mission is to ensure that the arts are accessible to all Nevadans, fostering creative expression and preserving the state's unique cultural heritage.

Application guidance

Applicants should carefully review the specific grant guidelines and deadlines on the NAC website, as each program has distinct eligibility criteria and application requirements. It is advisable to contact program staff early with questions, and to attend any offered workshops or webinars. Proposals should clearly articulate the project's public benefit and alignment with NAC's mission, and budgets must be accurate and justified. Given the competitive nature of funding, artists are encouraged to apply to multiple programs and to seek feedback on unsuccessful applications.
