About the foundation
The Nordic Council of Ministers is the official intergovernmental body for cooperation among the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the autonomous regions of Åland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland). Established in 1971, its cultural funding arm—including the Nordic Culture Fund and the Nordic Culture Point—supports artistic and cultural exchange across the region and internationally. The programme Nordic Currents, announced for 2027–2028, continues this mission by funding projects that foster dialogue, mobility, and co-creation among artists and cultural operators. The Council's ethos is rooted in the Nordic values of openness, sustainability, and democratic access, aiming to strengthen the Nordic cultural sector's global presence while nurturing local and regional networks.
