About the foundation
The Shine of Our Eyes is an international residency programme based in Armenia, conceived as a space for reflection, dialogue, and artistic production outside the pressures of the market. Founded with the belief that meaningful art emerges from sustained attention and cross-cultural exchange, the residency invites artists, writers, and thinkers to engage with the local context while developing their own work. The programme is deliberately small-scale, prioritizing depth of experience over spectacle, and encourages participants to consider their practice within broader social and ecological frameworks.

Applicants should approach the open call with a clear sense of what they hope to explore during the residency, rather than a finished project. The selection committee values honesty, specificity, and a willingness to engage with the local context. Proposals that demonstrate an awareness of the residency's ethos—slow, reflective, and non-extractive—are more likely to resonate than those focused solely on output. Include a concise artist statement, a realistic work plan, and evidence of your ability to work independently in a new environment.
