About the foundation
Time for (S) Heroes is an international residency program that positions sustainable design as a collaborative, cross-disciplinary practice. Founded on the belief that the most pressing environmental and social challenges demand collective ingenuity, the program invites multidisciplinary teams to develop projects that interrogate and reimagine systems of production, consumption, and community. Rather than treating sustainability as a mere thematic overlay, the residency fosters a rigorous, process-driven approach where ecological thinking is embedded in every stage of creation. By bringing together designers, artists, scientists, and thinkers from around the world, Time for (S) Heroes cultivates a space for experimentation that is as critical as it is constructive.

Application guidance
Applicants should approach the open call with a clearly articulated team composition and a project proposal that demonstrates how sustainability is integral to both process and outcome. Avoid generic statements about 'saving the planet'; instead, outline specific material, social, or systemic questions your team wishes to explore. The selection committee values proposals that show evidence of prior collaboration and a willingness to adapt across disciplines. Include a realistic timeline and budget, and be prepared to engage with local contexts in Finland and Spain. Since the residency is team-based, individual applications are unlikely to be considered unless they propose a viable interdisciplinary group.
