About the foundation

KidSport Tri-Cities is a community-based chapter of the national KidSport Canada program, operating in the Tri-Cities region of British Columbia (Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, and Coquitlam). Established to remove financial barriers, the organization provides grants to children and youth from low-income families, enabling their participation in organized sports. Its mission is rooted in the belief that sport fosters physical health, social skills, and self-esteem, and that no child should be excluded due to cost. The Tri-Cities chapter raises funds locally and distributes them directly to families, working with a network of local sports clubs and associations.

Application guidance

Applicants must be residents of the Tri-Cities area (Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, or Coquitlam) and have a child aged 18 or under who wants to participate in a sanctioned sport program. The grant covers registration fees, and applications are assessed based on financial need. Required documents typically include proof of residency, income verification, and the sport program registration form. Apply online through the KidSport Tri-Cities website; ensure all information is complete to avoid delays. Grants are subject to available funding, so early application is recommended. For specific questions, contact the local chapter directly.
