About the foundation

White Rabbit Gallery, founded in 2009 by Judith Neilson, is a private museum in Sydney dedicated to contemporary Chinese art. Its mission is to showcase the dynamic and often under-recognized voices of artists from China and the Chinese diaspora, with a particular emphasis on works created after 2000. The gallery’s exhibitions are drawn from the Judith Neilson Collection, which comprises over 2,000 works, and are known for their thematic ambition and immersive installations. By presenting art that engages with social, political, and cultural shifts, White Rabbit serves as a vital platform for dialogue between Chinese contemporary art and global audiences. The gallery’s digital call-out extends this mission into the online realm, inviting artists to propose digital works that resonate with its curatorial focus.

Application guidance

Artists approaching White Rabbit Gallery should first familiarize themselves with the gallery’s curatorial themes and the Judith Neilson Collection, as proposals that align with its focus on contemporary Chinese art and digital experimentation are most likely to be considered. For the digital call-out, ensure that your work is conceptually strong, technically resolved, and engages with the gallery’s mission. Submit a clear artist statement, a concise project description, and high-quality documentation or prototypes. Be mindful of deadlines and follow submission guidelines precisely; late or incomplete applications are typically not reviewed. While the gallery is open to international submissions, a genuine connection to Chinese art and culture is often expected.
