About the magazine

The Hilltop Horizon Review is an online literary journal founded in 2018 by a collective of poets and editors seeking to create a space for work that engages with landscape, memory, and the politics of place. Operating without a physical office, the journal has built a reputation for publishing poetry that is both formally attentive and emotionally resonant, often featuring voices from rural and overlooked communities. Its mission is to foster a community of writers who explore the intersections of environment, identity, and history, with an emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity.

Submitting your work

Reading periodOpen now

Submit 3-5 poems in a single document, with a brief cover letter noting your connection to place or community if relevant. The editors appreciate work that is vivid, precise, and avoids cliché. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify promptly if your work is accepted elsewhere. Response times vary from 4-8 weeks; query after 10 weeks if you haven't heard back. The journal nominates for Best of the Net and Pushcart Prize, so include a bio of up to 50 words.
