About the magazine

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the classical tradition in architecture, urbanism, and the allied arts. Founded in 2002 through the merger of the Classical America and the Institute of Classical Architecture, the ICAA provides educational programs, publications, and awards that promote the appreciation and practice of classical design principles. Its Texas chapter, based in Austin, extends this mission regionally through lectures, tours, and the biennial John Staub Awards, which recognize excellence in classical and traditional architecture and craftsmanship. The Institute's ethos is rooted in the belief that classical and vernacular traditions offer enduring, sustainable models for contemporary practice, and it serves as a convener for architects, artisans, and patrons committed to these ideals.

Submitting your work

Reading periodVaries

Artists and architects approaching the ICAA should demonstrate a deep understanding of classical principles, historical precedent, and traditional craftsmanship. Submissions for awards like the John Staub Awards typically require completed projects that exemplify excellence in classical or traditional design, often with detailed documentation of process and materials. It is advisable to review past winners and the specific criteria for each award, and to ensure that work aligns with the Institute's mission of advancing the classical tradition. Engagement with ICAA educational programs and events can provide valuable context and networking opportunities.
