About the magazine

The Palladio Awards and Raphael Awards, administered by the Palladio Foundation, were established in 1999 to honor excellence in traditional and classical architecture, urbanism, and the allied arts. The awards take their names from the Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio and the painter Raphael, reflecting a commitment to the enduring principles of harmony, proportion, and human-scale design. The program recognizes both built work and unbuilt projects, as well as craftsmanship and writing that advance the classical tradition. Over two decades, it has become a benchmark for practitioners dedicated to these ideals, offering a counterpoint to modernist orthodoxy while engaging contemporary practice.

Submitting your work

Reading periodVaries

Applicants should submit projects that demonstrate a deep understanding of classical vocabulary, proportion, and context. The jury values both new construction and restoration, as well as urban design and craftsmanship. Ensure your submission includes high-quality photographs, measured drawings, and a clear narrative explaining how the project engages with classical principles. Deadlines are typically in early spring; check the website for the current call. The foundation encourages submissions from emerging practitioners as well as established firms.
