About the magazine
The Waverly Review is an online literary and arts journal founded on the principle of slow, attentive reading. It publishes poetry, short fiction, and visual art that rewards patience and re-reading, favoring work that unfolds gradually rather than announcing itself immediately. The journal operates without a fixed institutional home, assembling each volume around a loose thematic inquiry rather than a rigid aesthetic. Its mission is to provide a considered, uncluttered space for writing and art that might otherwise be overlooked by faster-moving venues.
Submitting your work
Reading periodOpen now
Read at least one full volume before submitting. The editors favor work that trusts the reader's intelligence and avoids explanatory gestures. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, but please withdraw promptly if accepted elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter that speaks to the work itself rather than to prior publications. Response times are typically two to four months; queries before that period are discouraged.
