About the magazine

WORDPEACE is an online literary initiative founded to confront the urgencies of our time through the written word. Established in the mid-2010s, it emerged as a digital response to the growing need for nuanced, globally-minded literature that addresses themes of conflict, ecology, and social justice. The organization operates without a physical headquarters, instead curating quarterly online issues and periodic print anthologies that bring together established and emerging voices from around the world. Its core mission is to foster a community of writers and readers who believe in the power of language to imagine and enact peace—not as a passive ideal, but as an active, critical practice.

Submitting your work

Reading periodVaries

Before submitting, read at least one full issue to understand the aesthetic range and political sensibilities WORDPEACE favors. They appreciate work that is emotionally resonant, structurally inventive, and globally aware—avoid insular or overly experimental pieces that lack a clear human stake. For themed calls, engage the prompt obliquely rather than literally; the editors value fresh interpretations. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify promptly if accepted elsewhere. Expect response times of 4-6 months; do not query before then. Include a brief cover letter that situates your work in conversation with the theme, but keep it concise. Payment is modest, but contributors receive thorough editorial feedback and a supportive community.
