The Rang Yan Review: Regional Literary Editor — Arab World
Overview
The Rang Yan Review is an independent, non-commercial literary and intellectual journal committed to literature, critical thought, and left-wing perspectives. It publishes poetry, fiction, essays, criticism, translations, interviews, and writing that moves between literary and intellectual forms. The journal operates without commercial imperative, which allows it to prioritize rigorous, politically engaged work over market-driven trends. The Regional Literary Editor for the Arab World will be responsible for contemporary literature from across the region, including but not limited to Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, and the Gulf states. The editor will shape the journal's engagement with Arabic literature, commissioning and selecting work that reflects the region's intellectual and literary vitality. This is a volunteer position, remote and rolling, with no fee to apply. The curatorial vision is explicitly anti-colonial and materialist. The journal seeks an editor who can approach Arabic literature beyond familiar Western publishing categories and who understands the connections between literature and the region's histories of colonialism, imperialism, class, labour, migration, displacement, war, authoritarianism, capitalism, gender, and social struggle. The editor will be expected to read widely, contextually, and with critical attention to the political and historical forces that shape literary production.
