Communities of Opportunity
Overview
The HEAL Capacity Grants, administered by Front & Centered in partnership with the Frontline Funding Collaborative, are designed to resource the infrastructural and creative capacities of frontline communities. Rather than treating art as an accessory to social change, this fellowship positions musical and hybrid practices as integral to building healthy, equitable futures. The grant acknowledges that sustained cultural work requires material support, and it directs $20,000 toward practitioners whose efforts are embedded in the lived realities of their communities. While the call is rooted in music and hybrid disciplines, its curatorial logic is expansive: it seeks projects that blur conventional boundaries between performance, organizing, healing, and collective care. The funding is not a prize for finished products but an investment in capacity—the people, relationships, and systems that allow creative work to endure. This orientation makes the fellowship particularly suited to artists who operate at the intersection of cultural production and community health, and who can articulate how their practice contributes to long-term equity. The application deadline is November 13, 2026. There is no fee indicated, and the grant amount is $20,000. The program is national in scope, with no geographic restriction stated. Artists working in music and hybrid forms are encouraged to apply, provided their work aligns with the HEAL framework—health, equity, and the arts for liberation.
