Submit to CRAFT

Overview
CRAFT is a magazine dedicated to the art of prose, examining how the elements of craft—such as structure, voice, and imagery—shape a story or essay. The publication features both emerging and established writers, positioning itself as a space where the technical and the artistic converge. By focusing on the craft of writing, CRAFT offers readers and writers alike a deeper understanding of what makes prose resonate. The magazine accepts a range of forms: flash fiction and flash creative nonfiction up to 1,000 words, short fiction and creative nonfiction up to 6,000 words, craft and critical essays between 1,500 and 2,500 words, and interviews (either completed pieces or pitches). This breadth allows contributors to engage with prose at various lengths and levels of critical inquiry. Payment is provided for original work: $100 for flash, $200 for short fiction and creative nonfiction, and $50–$100 for craft content. There is no submission fee, and the deadline is rolling, ensuring that writers can submit when their work is ready. CRAFT’s curatorial vision centers on the belief that understanding craft enhances both the writing and reading experience. The magazine seeks work that not only tells a compelling story but also demonstrates a mastery of technique. By publishing essays and interviews alongside fiction and nonfiction, CRAFT fosters a conversation about how prose is made, making it a vital resource for writers who wish to refine their own practice and for readers who appreciate the artistry behind the words.
