European Festivals Association: European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists #5
Overview
The European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists (EFFEA), an initiative of the European Festivals Association (EFA), announces its fifth call for residencies taking place in 2027. This program supports festivals in collaborating across borders to host emerging artists, with approximately 50 residencies expected to involve at least 150 festivals from Europe and beyond. Each residency unites one leading festival with at least two partner festivals from three eligible countries, providing artists with time, space, and support to develop their work, reach new audiences, and build international connections. Emerging artists are defined not by age but by their novelty to programmers and audiences and their potential for international breakthrough. Artists can be individuals or groups working across various artistic disciplines. The residencies offer a rare opportunity for artists to engage with multiple festival contexts, meet programmers, and expand their professional networks beyond their national context. The curatorial vision emphasizes mobility, cross-cultural exchange, and the development of artistic practice within a supportive festival framework. By fostering collaborations among festivals, EFFEA aims to create sustainable opportunities for emerging artists to present their work to diverse audiences and to establish lasting international relationships.
