Our Village United — Get Procured

Overview
Get Procured is a professional development initiative by Our Village United, designed to equip small businesses with the knowledge and connections needed to navigate procurement processes. The program centers on a five-day immersive training—both virtual and in-person—that convenes procurement officials from federal, state, and local entities, alongside corporate partners, across Georgia and Mississippi. Participants engage directly with decision-makers to understand contracting procedures, certification requirements, and partnership strategies. The program is open to businesses in specific Georgia regions—Metropolitan Atlanta and surrounding suburbs, as well as Macon, Augusta, Valdosta, Savannah, and Columbus—and statewide in Mississippi. This geographic focus ensures that resources are directed toward communities with distinct economic landscapes and procurement opportunities. The cohort structure fosters peer learning and sustained engagement over six months, moving beyond one-off workshops to build lasting capacity. While not a traditional arts residency or exhibition, Get Procured operates with a curatorial logic: it selects a cohort of practitioners (here, business owners) and provides them with a platform to refine their craft, access networks, and secure tangible outcomes. The program's emphasis on direct interaction with procurement officials and corporate partners reflects a commitment to demystifying institutional processes and enabling participants to compete for contracts. For creative practitioners who run small businesses—studios, presses, production companies—this training offers a pragmatic complement to artistic practice, addressing the administrative and financial infrastructures that sustain creative work.
