Amplify Arts 2027 Fellowship Open Call

Overview
Amplify Arts' Fellowship program is rooted in a critical examination of place—not as a static backdrop but as a dynamic and contested terrain shaped by layered civic histories, cultural traditions, and living ecologies. The fellowship positions artistic inquiry as a vital method for interrogating the intersections of social, political, and environmental systems. It is designed for practitioners whose work manifests outside galleries and museums: site-responsive installations, book and publishing projects, films, performances, and other publicly engaged, project-based endeavors. Over the course of a year, selected fellows receive $10,000 in project support, individualized mentorship from arts professionals both within and beyond Omaha, and critical feedback within a small, cohort-based learning environment. The program emphasizes learning with and from one another, fostering artist communities grounded in generosity, curiosity, and critical dialogue. This is not a residency defined by studio provision but a fellowship defined by intellectual rigor and public engagement. The curatorial vision is one of deep contextual responsiveness. Artists are encouraged to investigate the specificities of region—its histories, traditions, and ecologies—while engaging broader systems. The fellowship supports work that is not merely placed in public but is genuinely of and for a public, challenging conventional boundaries between artistic practice and civic life.
