IdraConnect: Wonderland Festival 2026 Call for International Programmers (Italy)
Overview
IdraConnect operates as a curatorial conduit between Italian contemporary performance and the international presenting field. Its annual cohort is not assembled through open call but through the deliberation of more than thirty Italian programmers, who together select five artists or companies whose work resists easy genre classification. For 2026, those companies are Lupa Maimone, Muna Mussie, Calderoni/Caleo, DOM-, and Usine Baug. Each will present both a representative work and a work in progress, offering visiting programmers a rare dual vantage: the finished articulation of an artistic practice and the unsettled thinking that precedes it. The Wonderland Festival, held in Brescia from 18 to 20 November 2026, serves as the gathering point. IdraConnect extends a limited number of places to international programmers with an interest in this terrain. For those accepted, the organisation provides reimbursement of flight tickets up to 200 EUR upon presentation of receipts, lodging, and free entrance to every Italian performance. These conditions are explicitly limited in number, and the call operates on a rolling basis with no application fee. What distinguishes this invitation is its structure: it is not a market showcase in the conventional sense, nor a general open call for artists. It is a curated encounter between a pre-selected Italian cohort and a small group of international peers, designed to foster sustained professional attention rather than transactional exposure. The curatorial vision rests on the premise that contemporary performance in Italy is best understood through direct, unhurried viewing of both completed and in-process work, and that the programmers who attend are themselves part of the interpretive community that shapes the field.
