Рroto produkciia Foundation/Ukrainian-Danish Youth House: Residency for Performing Arts Professionals from Ukraine, Moldova, and Sakartvelo (Moldova)
Overview
The Рroto produkciia Foundation, in partnership with the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House in Mykolaiv and with support from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announces a residency for performing arts professionals from Ukraine (Mykolaiv region), Moldova, and Sakartvelo. This five-day convening in Moldova is part of the project Horizontal Laboratory: Collaborative Action and Co-Creation. It is designed for early- and mid-career practitioners who are navigating contexts that defy simple descriptors of instability, uncertainty, or unpredictability. The residency acknowledges the persistent effort required to sustain artistic work when stability cannot be assumed, and it positions collaboration and resource-sharing as central to that endeavor. The program is structured around peer-led exchange, hands-on testing of collaborative tools, and the value of simply being present together. Twenty artists, managers, and other performing arts professionals will be selected to participate. The residency does not offer a prize or fee; it is a no-fee opportunity that provides a space for collective learning and experimentation. By bringing together practitioners from three distinct regions, the residency fosters cross-border dialogue and mutual support, recognizing that the growth of an artistic practice depends not only on its quality but also on the constant work of securing resources, building partnerships, and shaping sustainable forms of management. The curatorial vision is one of horizontal collaboration, where expertise is shared rather than dictated. The residency is not a retreat for solitary creation but a laboratory for testing how we work together. It values the process of co-creation and the development of practical tools that can be carried back to home contexts. In a field where isolation and precarity are common, this residency offers a rare opportunity to be present with peers, to learn from one another, and to collectively imagine more resilient ways of working.
