The Anderson Center at Tower View — 2027 Early Career Residency for NYC and Minnesota Artists
Overview
The Anderson Center at Tower View, an artist community founded in 1995 on a historic estate, has long served as a research-and-development lab for the arts. Its Early Career Artist Residency Program, supported by the Jerome Foundation, provides a cohort of emerging artists from Minnesota or the five boroughs of New York City with a month-long residency-fellowship. This opportunity is designed for artists in the early stages of their careers who require concentrated, uninterrupted time to advance personal projects and take creative risks. Selected artists receive a comprehensive package: a $625 weekly stipend, documentation support, art-making resources, lodging and studio space, a travel honorarium, groceries, and chef-prepared communal dinners. The residency environment at Tower View is intended to empower artists to embrace challenges and utilize unconventional approaches to problem-solving, free from the pressures of daily life. The program is open to all disciplines, including translation, craft, ceramics, and artists who identify as disabled or neurodivergent. The Anderson Center seeks emerging artists whose practices would benefit from dedicated time and space within a supportive community of peers. The residency is not a retreat but a focused period of production and experimentation, with the expectation that artists will engage fully with the resources and community offered.
