Call for Nominations for 2027 SIGCHI Awards
Overview
The ACM Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (SIGCHI) has issued a call for nominations for its 2027 awards and special recognitions. The awards identify and honor individuals who have shaped the field of human-computer interaction within SIGCHI. Six categories are presented: the SIGCHI Lifetime Research Award, the SIGCHI Lifetime Practice Award, the SIGCHI Lifetime Service Award, the SIGCHI Social Impact Award, the SIGCHI Outstanding Dissertation Award, and induction into the SIGCHI Academy. In addition, the SIGCHI Special Recognitions initiative continues, celebrating individuals whose exceptional contributions to HCI may not be fully captured by the existing awards. Nomination is a curatorial act. It requires assembling a case that situates a body of work within the field's evolving discourse, demonstrating not only achievement but also influence and consequence. The process is open to all who wish to put forward a colleague, mentor, or peer. Detailed criteria for each award, guidelines for preparing nominations, information on who reviews them, and an FAQ are available on the SIGCHI website. There is no fee to nominate. The deadline for nominations is Saturday, October 31, 2026, 11:59pm, AoE—though the call states November 1, 2026, in its title. This discrepancy should be verified on the official SIGCHI site. The awards are conferred at the SIGCHI annual conference. For practitioners in HCI and adjacent creative fields, these awards represent one of the most established forms of peer recognition in the discipline.
