Geist — Comics
Overview
Geist is a Canadian magazine with a longstanding commitment to publishing work from across the country. Its comics section accommodates both shorter strips in Notes & Dispatches and longer features of up to eight pages, including hybrid forms such as poetry comics. The magazine acquires First North American Serial Rights and requires that all work be original and previously unpublished, including in digital spaces such as personal blogs, websites, or social media. Copyright reverts to the author after publication. Selected contributors work with the editor-in-chief through a revision process consistent with Geist's house style and audience, while respecting the author's intention. This may involve several drafts before the piece is ready for publication. The submission fee is 300 CAD, and the deadline is 2026-10-10. The curatorial vision favors comics that engage with Geist's editorial character: literate, thoughtful, and attentive to the possibilities of the form. The magazine's Canadian mandate shapes its scope, and hybrid or experimental approaches are explicitly welcomed within the page limits.
