Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora — Image — General Issue

Overview
Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora is a distinguished journal dedicated to the creative and critical work of the African Diaspora. For its General Issue, the publication seeks image-based works that engage with the visual culture, histories, and contemporary expressions of the Diaspora. This call is open to artists working across all disciplines, reflecting the journal's commitment to interdisciplinary and diasporic perspectives. The submission guidelines request up to five images, totaling no more than 40 MB, in .jpg or .tif format (with .tif preferred) at 300 ppi. Artists are asked to specify the orientation of each image as portrait or landscape. A short cover letter should include the titles of the works, major publications and awards, and any association or past correspondence with a guest or staff editor. There is no submission fee, ensuring accessibility for all artists. Obsidian's curatorial vision is rooted in presenting work that is both aesthetically rigorous and culturally resonant. The journal has a long-standing history of showcasing emerging and established voices, and this General Issue continues that tradition by providing a platform for image-based practices that contribute to the rich visual discourse of the African Diaspora.
