Periphery 64 Fall Submissions

Overview
Periphery Journal is a student-led publication that positions itself at the intersection of traditional and emergent creative practices. The journal's editorial scope is deliberately expansive, encompassing fiction, poetry, essays, photography, music, painting, new media, sculpture, graphic narratives, spoken word, comics, and prose poems—as well as genres that have yet to be created or recognized. This commitment to formal openness is paired with a rigorous blind review process conducted by the editor-in-chief, art director, assistant art director, and editorial staff, ensuring that selections are made on the merits of the work alone. The journal's curatorial vision prioritizes not only technical excellence but also uniqueness, with an explicit interest in work that resists or redefines conventional categories. Submissions are accepted from undergraduate students across all disciplines, and there is no fee to submit. Periphery does not claim rights to published work, and while the editors reserve the right to edit submissions, this is standard practice for publications of this kind. The Fall 64 issue represents an opportunity for emerging practitioners to place work in a context that values experimentation and cross-disciplinary inquiry. For artists and writers, the journal offers a platform that is both accessible and discerning. The blind review process means that institutional affiliations or prior recognition do not influence selection; the work itself is the sole criterion. The requirement that submissions be sent separately—up to three writing pieces, each limited to ten pages—reflects a practical editorial structure that allows for careful consideration of each piece. This is a call for undergraduate creatives who are producing work that challenges genre boundaries and seeks a readership beyond the classroom.
