The Arc Minnesota — Sports and Leisure Equipment Microgrant
Overview
Administered by The Arc Minnesota and supported by the Department of Human Services – Disability Services Division, the Minnesota Inclusion Initiative funds self-advocacy groups and organizations working toward community inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This microgrant is not a prize for artistic excellence but a targeted resource for projects that address systemic barriers in workforce participation, transportation, voting, accessible housing, and ADA compliance. It reflects a curatorial vision rooted in disability justice, where access is both a right and a creative practice. While the grant is open to all disciplines, it will be of particular interest to creative practitioners whose work engages disability, neurodivergence, and community-based advocacy. The grant does not prescribe an artistic outcome; instead, it supports initiatives that align with one of five specified categories: decreasing barriers to workforce participation, overcoming barriers to accessible and reliable transportation, identifying and addressing barriers to voting, advocating for increased accessible housing, or working with governmental agencies or businesses on accessibility issues under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Projects may take the form of public art, documentary film, oral history, performance, or other mediums, provided they serve the grant's inclusion goals. There is no fee to apply, and the grant is offered at no cost to applicants. The deadline is July 1, 2027. Artists and organizers are encouraged to consider how their practice can intersect with self-advocacy and systems change. This is a chance to secure support for work that is both artistically rigorous and socially urgent, and to join a cohort of practitioners committed to dismantling barriers for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
