The 2River View, 31.2 (Winter 2027)

Overview
For three decades, 2River has maintained a singular presence in the literary landscape: a journal devoted exclusively to poetry, published with a consistency that few independent ventures can claim. Its longevity is not incidental. It reflects an editorial commitment to work that rewards sustained attention—poems that operate by their own internal logic rather than by the prevailing fashions of the moment. The journal's archive constitutes a continuous record of poetic practice across generations, and its pages have long served as a meeting ground for new and established voices. The Winter 2027 issue will be assembled from a single reading period, and the terms of engagement are deliberately constrained. Poets may submit up to five poems in one file, and only once per reading period. This is not a limitation born of bureaucracy but of curatorial discipline: the editors read closely, and they ask that submissions arrive as a considered body of work rather than a scatter of individual pieces. There is a submission fee of $3.00 USD, a nominal sum that supports the journal's operations. No prize is offered, and no theme is imposed. What is offered is publication—and with it, the claim of First Electronic Rights and First North American Rights, meaning the work must not have appeared previously online or in print. That rights stipulation is central to understanding what 2River is. The journal does not seek to anthologize work that has already circulated; it seeks to introduce poems to the world. For the poet, this is an opportunity to place work with a publication that has, for thirty-one years, treated the poem as the primary unit of value. The absence of a prize or a contest framework is itself a statement: the reward is the readership, the archive, and the editorial care that has defined 2River since its founding.
