About the organization

The Researcher to Reader Conference is an annual gathering that examines the evolving dynamics of scholarly communication, from the production of research to its consumption and reuse. Founded on the principle that a healthy knowledge ecosystem requires dialogue among all stakeholders—publishers, librarians, researchers, and technology providers—it serves as a forum for critical reflection on the infrastructures, policies, and practices that shape how research is disseminated. The conference is known for its balanced program, which combines practical workshops with forward-looking discussions on open access, peer review, and digital preservation. Its ethos is one of pragmatic idealism: while acknowledging the commercial and institutional realities of academic publishing, it consistently advocates for greater accessibility, equity, and efficiency in the flow of knowledge.

Application guidance

Prospective contributors should consult the conference website for the specific Call for Papers, which typically opens several months before the event. Proposals are welcomed from all sectors of the scholarly communication ecosystem, including but not limited to: academic librarians, publishers, research funders, technology vendors, and independent researchers. The program committee favors submissions that offer concrete insights, case studies, or evidence-based analysis over purely promotional or theoretical presentations. When preparing an abstract, clearly articulate the problem or opportunity addressed, the approach taken, and the implications for the wider community. Sessions are often interactive, so consider how you might engage the audience in discussion. Deadlines are firm, and early submission is encouraged to allow for thorough review.
