About the organization

The Alaska State Council on the Arts (ASCA) was established in 1966 as a state agency to foster the arts in Alaska. Its founding ethos is rooted in the belief that the arts are essential to the health and vitality of communities, particularly in a state as vast and diverse as Alaska. ASCA's core mission is to support and develop the arts for all Alaskans through grants, programs, and partnerships that ensure access to the arts, arts education, and the preservation of Alaska's cultural heritage. The Council operates with a commitment to serving rural and urban communities alike, recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities of the state's geography and cultural landscape.
