About the organization

Art at a Time Like This (ATLT) is a global, non-profit initiative founded in 2020 by Anne Verhallen and Barbara Pollack in response to the urgent need for artistic engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic and the concurrent social justice uprisings. Operating primarily online, ATLT commissions and presents time-based works that address pressing political and social issues, with a particular emphasis on amplifying underrepresented voices. Its core mission is to provide a platform for artists to respond swiftly to current events, fostering dialogue and action through digital and public interventions.

Taking part

ATLT typically issues open calls for specific projects or themes, often with tight deadlines. Artists should monitor their website and social media for announcements. Proposals should demonstrate a clear connection to the current call's theme, a thoughtful engagement with social or political issues, and feasibility for digital or public presentation. Given the organization's fast-paced nature, concise, impactful submissions that align with ATLT's mission are most effective. There is no formal residency or ongoing submission portal; opportunities are project-based.
