About the gallery

The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) is a public art museum in Edmonton, Alberta, with roots dating to 1924. Its current home, a landmark building designed by Randall Stout Architects, opened in 2010. The AGA stewards a collection of over 6,000 works, with a focus on art of Alberta and Western Canada, alongside national and international contemporary art. Its mission is to engage people with art through exhibitions, education, and community programs that reflect the region's diverse cultural fabric.

Working with the gallery

The AGA does not accept unsolicited artist submissions for exhibitions. Opportunities for artists are typically announced through open calls, residencies, or curated group exhibitions. Artists are advised to monitor the gallery's website and social media for calls for entry, and to consider applying to the Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art, a recurring exhibition that often features emerging and mid-career artists from the province. Engaging with the gallery's public programs and educational initiatives can also provide pathways for involvement.
