About the organization
Bushwick Gallery is an artist-run initiative founded in 2018 in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. It emerged from a collective of artists seeking to create a sustainable alternative to the commercial gallery system, prioritizing experimentation, community, and mutual support. The gallery operates as a non-profit exhibition space and residency, with a mission to provide emerging and under-represented artists with the resources, visibility, and critical feedback necessary to develop their practices. Its programming is characterized by a willingness to take risks on unconventional work, often blurring the boundaries between studio, exhibition, and public engagement.

Taking part
Artists should approach Bushwick Gallery with a clear sense of their own process and a willingness to engage in dialogue. The gallery favors proposals that demonstrate a thoughtful consideration of space and context, rather than fully realized projects. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, but artists are encouraged to first attend an exhibition or event to understand the gallery's ethos. Include a concise artist statement, 10-15 images of recent work, and a CV. The gallery prioritizes local and emerging artists, but international applications are welcome. Response times may vary due to the volunteer-run nature of the organization.
