About the organization

Caldera is an arts residency program located in the foothills of the Oregon Cascades, founded in 1996 by Dan Wieden and a group of creative leaders. Its mission is to support artists of all disciplines in developing new work and engaging with the local community. The organization provides space, time, and resources for artists to experiment, reflect, and create, often in a retreat-like setting that encourages deep focus and cross-disciplinary exchange.

Caldera Fee Based Artists in Residence (FAiR) — Fall 2026

Taking part

Artists should approach Caldera with a clear sense of how a residency would advance their practice, emphasizing process and experimentation rather than finished products. Applications typically require a project proposal, work samples, and a statement of intent. It is advisable to review the specific residency guidelines, as some programs are fee-based and may have particular thematic or disciplinary focuses. Demonstrating alignment with Caldera's ethos of community and exploration can strengthen an application.
