About the gallery
CICA Museum, located in Gimpo, South Korea, is a contemporary art museum founded in 2013 with a mission to support experimental and interdisciplinary practices. It provides a platform for both emerging and established artists, with a particular emphasis on new media, installation, and conceptual work. The museum's ethos is rooted in fostering dialogue across cultures and disciplines, often through open calls that invite international participation. Since its inception, CICA has organized numerous exhibitions, residencies, and publications, positioning itself as a dynamic hub for artistic research. Its programming often reflects a commitment to process over product, encouraging artists to take risks and engage with pressing contemporary issues. The museum's physical and digital spaces serve as testing grounds for ideas that might not find support in more traditional institutions.

Artists should approach CICA with a clear articulation of their conceptual framework and a willingness to experiment. Open calls are frequent and often thematic, so tailoring proposals to the specific theme is crucial. The museum values process and innovation, so include documentation of previous work that demonstrates a commitment to exploration. Keep in mind that CICA operates with limited resources, so proposals should be feasible within modest budgets. International artists should factor in shipping and travel costs, as CICA rarely provides full funding. It is advisable to visit the website regularly for updated opportunities and to follow submission guidelines meticulously.
