About the organization
DRIFT is a pan-European initiative dedicated to supporting mid-career choreographers in developing and presenting new work. Founded in 2020 by a consortium of dance houses and festivals, DRIFT emerged from a recognized need for sustained investment in artists who have moved beyond early-career support but still require resources to deepen their practice. The program operates in waves, each offering a cohort of choreographers a combination of residencies, mentorship, production support, and international presentation opportunities. By fostering cross-border collaboration, DRIFT aims to strengthen the European dance ecosystem and amplify diverse choreographic voices.

Eligibility typically requires a minimum of five years of professional choreographic practice. Applications are assessed on artistic vision, feasibility, and potential for international impact. Proposals should clearly articulate the creative process and how DRIFT's resources would advance the work. Deadlines are announced per wave; interested artists should monitor the website and prepare a compelling case for support.
