About the organization
Eidolon Centre is a global, non-profit platform dedicated to the critical and creative exploration of everyday photography. Founded on the belief that the vernacular image—from family snapshots to social media feeds—holds profound cultural and personal significance, the Centre fosters dialogue between artists, scholars, and the public. Through its grant program, residencies, and digital archive, Eidolon supports projects that interrogate the aesthetics, politics, and poetics of the ordinary image, challenging the hierarchies of the photographic canon.

Applicants should demonstrate a thoughtful engagement with everyday photography, whether through artistic, scholarly, or hybrid approaches. The Centre values projects that are conceptually grounded and critically aware of the politics of the ordinary. Proposals should articulate how the work contributes to broader conversations about vernacular imagery. While there is no strict house style, clarity of intent and a genuine investment in the subject matter are essential. The grant is open to international applicants; early-career artists and researchers are encouraged to apply.
