About the organization
The Ian Parry Scholarship was established in 1989 in memory of Ian Parry, a young photojournalist who died while on assignment for The Sunday Times during the Romanian Revolution. Founded by his family and colleagues, the scholarship supports emerging photographers under 24 who are committed to documentary photography and photojournalism. Its core mission is to provide financial assistance, mentorship, and a platform for early-career photographers to pursue in-depth, socially engaged projects that might otherwise go unrealized. The scholarship also awards the Tom Stoddart Award for Excellence, named after the renowned photojournalist, which recognizes exceptional talent among the applicants.
