About the organization
LIMA is a global platform dedicated to the intersection of literature and climate change. Founded to address the urgent need for nuanced narratives about the environment, LIMA supports writers who engage with climate fiction (cli-fi) and related genres. Its mission is to foster stories that explore ecological themes with literary merit, moving beyond dystopian clichés to imagine complex futures and presents. Through open calls, residencies, and publications, LIMA cultivates a community of writers committed to environmental storytelling.

Writers should approach LIMA with stories that demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of climate issues, avoiding didacticism or overt activism. Craft is paramount: compelling characters, evocative prose, and innovative approaches to speculative elements are valued. Familiarize yourself with past publications to gauge tone. Simultaneous submissions are typically accepted, but notify promptly if your work is placed elsewhere. Include a brief cover letter highlighting your connection to the theme.
