About the organization

The Lucid Art Foundation, established in 1998, is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering artistic exploration and cross-disciplinary dialogue. Founded in the spirit of Gordon Onslow Ford and the Lucid Art movement, it supports artists whose work engages with inner worlds, consciousness, and the natural environment. The foundation's residency program, set in the serene landscape of Inverness, California, offers artists a contemplative space to develop their practice away from urban distractions. Core to its mission is the belief that art can reveal hidden dimensions of experience and contribute to a more lucid understanding of the world.

Lucid Art Residency Program 2027

Taking part

Artists interested in the Lucid Art Residency should demonstrate a genuine connection to the foundation's ethos of exploring inner and outer landscapes. Applications are typically open annually, with deadlines in the spring. The selection committee looks for proposals that show a thoughtful engagement with place, often favoring projects that can benefit from the quiet, natural setting. It is advisable to research the foundation's history and the writings of Gordon Onslow Ford to align your practice with its mission. Include a clear project description, current CV, and work samples that reflect your artistic direction. International artists are welcome, but note that the residency does not provide travel funds.
