About the organization
LUX is a London-based arts organization dedicated to supporting and promoting artists’ moving image work. Founded in 2002 through the merger of the London Film-Makers’ Co-op and London Electronic Arts, LUX inherits a rich history of experimental film and video culture dating back to the 1960s. Its core mission is to preserve, distribute, and exhibit artists’ moving image, fostering critical engagement and providing resources for both artists and audiences. LUX operates as a distributor, gallery, and research center, with a commitment to the historical and contemporary contexts of the medium.

Taking part
Artists should approach LUX with a clear understanding of its focus on experimental and artists’ moving image. Before submitting, review the distribution catalogue and exhibition history to align with the organization’s curatorial interests. Proposals should articulate the conceptual and formal concerns of the work, and demonstrate awareness of the medium’s histories. LUX values work that challenges conventional narratives and explores the boundaries of moving image. For distribution, ensure high-quality exhibition copies and complete metadata. For exhibitions, submit a concise proposal with supporting visual documentation and a critical statement. Patience is advised, as the selection process is rigorous and curated with care.
