About the organization

The National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement (NCCPE) was established in 2008 as part of the UK's Beacons for Public Engagement initiative, with a mission to inspire and support a culture change in how universities engage with the public. Its Engage Fellowship programme recognises and develops leaders in public engagement, providing a framework for academics and professionals to reflect on their practice and advocate for institutional change. The fellowship is not a project grant but a professional development opportunity, emphasising peer learning, reflective practice, and strategic influence.

Application guidance

Applicants should demonstrate a sustained commitment to public engagement, with evidence of impact and a clear vision for how the fellowship would enhance their practice and influence others. The selection criteria emphasise reflective practice, leadership potential, and the ability to contribute to a community of fellows. It is advisable to articulate how your work aligns with the NCCPE's values of equity, collaboration, and transformation, and to provide concrete examples of engagement activities and their outcomes. Ensure your application is concise, specific, and avoids generic statements about the importance of engagement.
