About the organization
Nordic Co-operation, formally the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic Council, is the official inter-governmental body for regional collaboration among Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, along with the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland. Established in 1971, its cultural mandate is to strengthen Nordic cultural identity and foster cross-border artistic exchange. It operates through a network of institutions, funding schemes, and initiatives such as Nordic Culture Point and Nordic Culture Fund, supporting contemporary art, literature, music, and performance across the region. The ethos is rooted in democratic participation, linguistic diversity, and the belief that culture is a cornerstone of the Nordic welfare model.

Taking part
Artists should first identify the specific sub-programme relevant to their practice—such as Nordic Culture Point, Nordic Culture Fund, or the Nordic Council's own calls. Applications are typically open to individuals and organisations based in the Nordic region, with emphasis on cross-border collaboration. Prepare a clear project description that articulates the Nordic relevance and public benefit, and ensure all partners have confirmed their involvement. Deadlines are strict, and budgets must be realistic. It is advisable to contact the relevant secretariat for guidance before applying, and to review previously funded projects to understand the expected scope and format.
