About the organization
spazioSERRA is an independent, non-profit exhibition space founded in Milan in 2012 by a collective of artists and curators. Its ethos is rooted in process over product, fostering a critical and experimental environment where emerging and mid-career artists can test ideas without commercial pressure. The organization operates as a platform for contemporary art, with a particular emphasis on site-specific installations, time-based media, and discursive practices. Over the years, it has maintained a nimble, self-organized structure, often collaborating with like-minded institutions and curators to produce exhibitions that respond to the urgencies of the present. Its program is characterized by a rigorous yet open-ended approach, inviting artists to engage with the space as a laboratory for inquiry rather than a traditional gallery.

Taking part
Artists interested in working with spazioSERRA should first familiarize themselves with the space's program and ethos, which prioritizes experimentation and criticality over finished, market-ready works. Proposals should articulate a clear conceptual framework and demonstrate how the project engages with the specific context of the space. While there is no formal open call, the organization welcomes unsolicited proposals, which should be sent via email and include a concise project description, artist statement, and relevant documentation. Given the independent nature of the space, artists are encouraged to consider feasibility and resourcefulness in their proposals. Response times may vary, and follow-up is appreciated after a reasonable period.
