Ben Montgomery

Ben Montgomery is a Tampa-based writer and a staff writer for the Tampa Bay Times. He wrote the nonfiction book Grandma Gatewood's Walk (Chicago Review Press, 2014), about Emma Gatewood, the first woman to solo-hike the entire Appalachian Trail. In 2019 he contributed the essay "AT Redemption" to Appalachia, describing a 244-mile hike on the trail with his three children.
