Candice Tavares

Candice Tavares is a self-taught wood artist from the suburbs of Philadelphia who is an alumna of the Creative Alliance Baltimore resident artist program. She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia and a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Howard University. Her work uses wood as a natural medium to celebrate the beauty of Black women, incorporating a range of complexions and hair textures through multiple wood species, stains, and techniques.
