Cathy Cone

Cathy Cone is a visual artist whose work reworks found portraits, especially tintypes, through tearing, burning, collage, re-photography and hand painting. She describes her process as a dialogue between past images and present paint. In November 2022 she spent a month as a resident at the Tusen Takk Foundation in Northern Michigan, working with her husband Jon Cone on photogravure and relief printing. Her work was also featured in Lenscratch's 2025 retrospective on Photolucida's Critical Mass program, which named her a 2023 Top 50 artist.
