Claire Alexandre

Claire Alexandre is an intersectional visual artist and storyteller from North Carolina who combines autobiographical reflection with ancestral knowledge. Her work covers environmental, gender and racial justice, with a focus on Black community prosperity. She works in mixed-media painting, street art and botanical knowledge. During her 2022 residency at A Studio in the Woods, she made paper from local plant materials and painted portraits drawing on Afro Indigenous spiritual practice.
