Debra Brehmer

Debra Brehmer is an American art historian, writer, and curator from the Midwest who runs a contemporary art gallery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She writes for Hyperallergic. Her work takes a feminist, revisionist approach to art history, looking at how discrimination based on gender, race, age, and economics has shaped art production. She was an artist-in-residence at DRAWinternational in 2022, where she made around 80 drawings that she describes as imprints and notes tied to her writing process.
