Elisa Halvorsen Castillo

Elisa Halvorsen Castillo is a Chilean-born artist with Norwegian roots who works in Oslo. Her practice uses analog and experimental methods, mainly photography, drawing, printmaking and self-published artist's books. She examines memory and how it can change over time, and how mental illness affects memory and perception. Her artist's books are held by the Norwegian National Museum, Preus museum and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts library. Her residency at Atelier Austmarka produced the photo series 'Knoklene blir til trær' (The bones become trees), which explores the forest as both a place of peace and a source of loneliness and vulnerability.
